Captain William Schnabl
Hey guys, Captain Will Schnabl here, owner and captain at Schnabl’s Guide Service. I’m a South Texas native who grew up in Los Fresnos, TX. I was raised in a very active hunting and fishing family. From an early age, I can recall those early mornings out on the Lower Laguna Madre watching an endless amount of ducks work into the spread. It seemed like any free time we had was spent outdoors. My dad was a very avid outdoorsman who enjoyed handing down his passion to me. Whether it was my first duck hunt or sight casting redfish on the bay, I’ve had countless memories on the Lower Laguna. Memories like that are what I strive to create through Schnabl’s Guide service. I welcome both advanced and beginner customers who want a guide that provides both knowledge and an authentic experience. After over 20 years hunting and fishing the Lower Laguna, I know it well—yet every trip teaches me something new. If I had one thing to say about it, it's that it keeps me humble. I look forward to the opportunity to show you what the Lower Laguna Madre has to offer.
Meet the Dogs
We offer the use of either of our dogs to retrieve your downed birds. Either can be taken on the hunt if you have a preference. They each have years of experience retrieving waterfowl and have a passion for the hunt. Your retrievers are welcome too, upon request, if you’d like to bring your own hunting companion.

She’s 7 years old and is the more easy-going retriever of our two, but her passion for the hunt is strong. She is calm in the blind but gets fired up when ducks hit the water. She is a solid hunting dog.

He is 7 years old and his drive is unmatched. If you want a retriever who is wild about ducks, then River is the dog. He is quick in and out of the blind and excels at even the most challenging retrieves. He has several thousand retrieves under his belt.
